We provide protection for your stored goods on a new replacement basis.

Storage Protection is an extension to our standard contract that allows us to accept liability for loss or damage to your goods. Storage Protection is provided for the first 8 weeks Free of charge. To benefit from Storage Protection, you must tell us the value of your goods you will store on a new replacement basis (known as the Maximum Replacement Value). This figure must be adequate to include all goods at all times.

Our liability under Storage Protection, is accepted on a new replacement basis for most goods you store. However, there are restrictions for some items, such as jewellery, watches, furs, fine art, beers, wines, and electrical items. We cannot offer Storage Protection for motorcars stored outside of a storage unit or food/perishable items.

You will need to provide this value on booking, however, if the value stated is less than the actual new replacement value at the time of loss or damage, then our liability under Storage Protection will be reduced to reflect the proportion. For example: if the total replacement value of your property is £10,000, but you have declared a Maximum Replacement Value of £5,000, our liability will be reduced by 50%.Therefore, if £3,000 worth of Your Property is lost or damaged, our liability would be £1,500.

Do I have to insure my goods?

Our Self Storage Licence Agreement requires you to have cover for your goods as without cover if your goods are affected by damage or loss then Stashed Away’s liability is limited to £100. You can either continue with our enhanced liability protection under Storage Protection; Or you can Opt Out and arrange insurance at your own expense.

The Storage Protection charge is relative to the value of your goods, however it can be as little as £1.66 per week. The Storage Protection charge is displayed prior to any payment being made and can be cancelled at any time.
